The Basic Studies Department has classes for you: Just $25/Quarter. Classes are offered Morning, Afternoon, and Evening, online options are available.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
-General English classes
-English Classes to help you brush up on specific areas, such as Pronunciation, Writing, Speaking, etc.
Adult Basic Education
- Work on your Reading and/or Math Skills
High School Completion
-GED
-HS 21+ --Available only to those 21 years old and older. Get credit for prior learning and education!
To Enroll in Basic Studies Classes on the Renton Technical College Campus:
1. Go to Registration Counter in Building I, and tell the clerk you would like to Register for Basic Studies Orientation, and pay the $25 fee at the Cashier (next to Registration). You will need photo ID, your address, phone number, social security number (if you have one), and $25 cash, check, or credit/debit card. If you can't pay, ask for a tuition waiver. Orientation is offered Mornings, Afternoons, and Evenings. Registration can tell you the options for the date and times it is offered. Campus location and map
2. Report to Orientation in D102A and attend all 4 days. You will take CASAS tests and some assessments, and learn about the campus. You will learn about the different classes we offer and once we know your level, you will be registered into the classes you choose.
3. Go to your classes!
